Work horses of the Far East
Here's a great picture of a Vietnamese machine shop taken this year. My Friend and Motor Head Tony Thornton, took these pictures a few weeks ago. Vietnam is becoming popular with tourists, the people are warm and friendly, and tourists make return visits. Do note that these guys have a direct drive Generator, it looks to be an 1100 series engine, and the ST head that is found everywhere in Asia, the unit to the right looks to be a 185, and it's still on the original shipping crate bottom, they are most likely ready to fit it to a customer's application.
Fish Pellet Grinder Viet Nam Take a look at this engine, this looks old enough to have come from Japan versus China.
Rice Paper Press ,Vietnam
Flour Mill, Vietnam Look at all those flat belts, Vee belts, and neat ole pulleys.
San Pan, Vietnam If you have the opportunity to travel, you will discover a good many things that work well, but you just don't see it used in North America. Above you can see the large prop, in the air, just below this is a funnel that is used to ram cooling water to the hopper. Tony says most San Pans have and overflow that can be monitored for proper coolant flow.
Here's a boat on a river in the Mekong Delta, This provides a good side view of the system deployed. You can see the hoses entering the hopper.
Thank you Tony for the great pictures! |
