Jack Belk's Page

If you've read Guns and Ammo, maybe you've heard of him... Jack shoots a bunch, and makes some pretty nice rifles, need something  done right? you might send him an email. Jack lives far off the beaten path and is one of the few North Americans that can make use of hot springs to heat his shop and living quarters. When oil prices are up, one knows what a blessing that is.

When Jack decided to buy a Lister, he wasn't too concerned about the quality of assembly; because he was going to totally rebuild it to his specs, and fit things as he saw fit.  He was warned that the Prakash Brand was assembled with inconsistency, and he might find plenty to refit. Prakash delivered this engine fitted with a double helping of unfinished parts, and it's possible that this engine was assembled during a sand storm.

He has already done a good number of things that I wish to get around to someday, one is to build a nice wooden frame, and use steel angle to line the top rails. Jack's pictures and comments are excellent, and Seth holding that piston and rod give you the best idea ever what this old design is all about.

Here's a link to photos Jack has of his project, set it to slide show, and set the step to 20 seconds, you'll need the time to see the detail. this is likely to be the worst you've seen, but even on the better engines, you will find a number of these things, and you will be far ahead doing a proper survey of your engine!

With Jack's permission, I'll be adding more about his project and Jack's other efforts..

Jack, thanks for sharing with us!
