?Vaporware?
It's an old term that sprung up when software orders were
taken for software that wasn't ready for the market yet. As time went on,
people used it to describe all kinds of things that were being sold that the
vendor did not have in stock yet.
The world is a more uncertain place as of 2005
Buying stock from >ANY< dealer who has cleared customs
already, and
actually has the stock in your country reduces your risk a considerable amount.
Ebay is helpful, as you can look at the feedback of a
seller and learn something about them, this is not all the story, but you
can quickly tell if a dealer has sold one or a thousand units, and that
carries weight. Feedback is usually given shortly after the product arrives,
the other half of the story plays in when you need help or parts, and ebay
is of less help in determining how good a seller does here.
There is risk in shipping, and there are
certain things that can happen in Customs even when you thought you had
everything done right. If you are dealing with someone who is holding your
money to import and engine on your behalf, you are in deed taking
more risk, and the reward should be far greater.
One heavy rain in Gujarat India could delay your shipment for
months, not likely you think? It happened in 2005. There are other risks in
shipping, the risk is usually passed along to the importer, does your dealer
have the pockets to cover your loss? I had purchased some parts that were destined to arrive at
Seattle. The local Long Shore men decided they needed a 'work stoppage' just
as our container arrived. To make a long story shorter, the ship could not unload and headed to
another port across the pacific. When they returned 45 days later, I had
extra charges, and they certainly added up. If the ship sinks, or the
container is lost, the customer is often the loser.
Buying from a dealer who has the money to
buy a container load or two suggests he has credit with bank or other
entity, persons who are trying to leverage off your money are sometimes doing
so because they have a poor credit record. Money is cheap to borrow
right now, and even Foreign workers driving Taxis are borrowing it. If your
dealer can't manage to fund some stock, it should be a red flag to you!

None of what is on this page is important till it
impacts you!
Regardless of what is written on a particular website,
this is not negative coverage of any particular Dealer. In my opinion it's
just common sense, and of course opinions differ, now you know mine.
