This post is short and sweet, Big Oil has been under attack for some time and has been looking for a cost-effective insurance policy and a way they may become better accepted by the Social Justice Warriors?
Yes, Big Oil and others are on the brink of offering their full support for Carbon Taxes, after all, it is you who will pay them, and it is them who will get the credit for enslaving you to them.
About two years back, I watched Monsanto start to yield to the left, there message has been changing, and it reminds me of what I saw in the National Geographic some years back when they seemed more willing to embrace pseudoscience.
The big question is will the public submit to writing the government the blank to tax us at the rate they think necessary, and will people like Greenspan find a job within yet another powerful government oversee responsible to no one? What do you think?

It may have been worse than that Bill, another person’s loss of life can leave a mark on us, our loss of life just means we finally get out of paying taxes. I have learned a lot during my absence, I have had a few PG friends plow into the ground since I have written, they were and are good pilots, even if you do all things perfect, there are conditions that can collapse a wing, and if you are close to the ground, no time to recover.
The Lotus was a bit of a distraction, at 70, people are pretty sure why you bought it, but in my case, I had a Lotus 7 when my kids were young, and I didn’t really have the talent or the money to make it what I wanted, so I’ve carried the Lotus bug for a long time, and I figured it’s now or never. The first thing I did with this Elise was take it all apart and scatter it all across the shop. Sometimes I’d polish parts while watching the news. I took a hundred pounds off the car, and that’s much harder to do on a Lotus, but lots of other Mods too. ~1800 pounds/270HP. The scary part was making mod after mod and not being able to prove each one as I went along. The results included a lot of luck. You need quite a lot of horsepower in a muscle car to see where a hot rodded Elise went, but the downside is there’s barely enough room to take along your wallet.

The whole ‘carbon tax’ and especially ‘global warming’….um…err….’climate change’ deal is in my opinion, a sham.
I for one CANNOT take a concept like global warming seriously. Since now the name has been switched to ‘Climate Change’. How in the heck CAN I take this seriously when the activists can’t even make up their mind on what to call it??
Carbon tax? Really? Exactly HOW is that suppose to curb the boogie man of alleged climate change? Considering the U.S. has LOWERED it’s emissions WITHOUT being part of the Paris treaty, I’m calling ‘B.S.’ on the concept.

Russ, real science makes every effort to account for Bias. Let’s take the worn out story than 97% of climate scientists agree that man-made warming is a major problem. If we had a good paying government job where it’s near impossible to be fired, would we say it’s an important job? Very likely I think.

Yes we do a good job with emissions in the US with scrubbers and such catalytic reduction systems. Power plants and anything else they can find now. .. The other countries are behind, but seems it can be converted into a form of government extortion.
The 2020 global sulfur cap and compliance an example.. wait and see what happens. It will be a maritime nightmare for shipping, and non compliance will mean a stiff tax im sure…

How many Nuke plants did they turn down to pacify the left? How many older Carbon fueled plants did they scramble when it all started to look brown? Coming on line fast can be dirty.

Great article thanks Bill, my British friends tell me that France sells power to Spain, Germany, and even the UK, but I really do think there is a force at work that is determined to cripple all of the west, and it’s likely that France will be talked into surrendering their zero carbon emission power sources. They’ve had a great record, it’s one of the things the French have done well.
Macron is itching to remove some nuclear plants against the popular wishes of French citizens. I just hope he won’t be around long enough.
I was just looking at a South Carolina nuclear power plant and see that in 2007 adjusted dollars it cost 408 million – about 1/15 of what we would spend now.
I have a renewed interest in nuclear power. I’ve made about 40 to 50 sets of complex parts in my barn-machine shop that end up inside nuclear power plants. Sometimes I’m still finding it hard to accept that this happened.

There is no economy without energy. This week we see Green Peace soliciting for more money to buy fuel so they can travel around in their old boat spreading their message of ‘leaving it all in the ground’.
I get so tired of seeing posts made about how Fukushima will kill the entire pacific ocean. We know that the machine exceeded every design parameter, and there are far better and safer designs today. don’t build where you can be swept by a title wave seems to be a large part of the lesson learned. All the people in Hawaii who are scared of radioactive levels in seawater should be forced to sleep next to a Bananna.

Michael, there’s a reason to own a PMG, but I think that reason figures in at 3KW and smaller. One of the things I learned is how many corners can be cut in the production of a generator. Magnets can have the same field strength, but a lesser magnet might have its properties cooked out at a lower temperature than what you need. One PMG I tested had been abused by the laziest off gridder I ever met. the inside of the generator shaft was full of carbon sludge because the diesel was in a room with no exhausted plumbed to the outside and ran up to sixteen hours a day. It was showing signs of baking the insulation on the flexible motor leads coming out of the stator, but the magnets were perfect, and the voltages under load were textbook perfect, but no way was it cooling as it should have. The cooling fins were half full of gunk! This was a testament to having received good magnets!
Mad Max might like the PMG, but the kiss versions of generators with no VRs can and do perform similarly and it’s fairly easy to protect it all from an EMP if you want to. I got good magnets for everything I sold, but I have zero faith in potential suppliers, you’d need to do your own QC on magnets and more to have the confidence you were selling a quality product to your customers. There’s at least one guy out there selling generator heads that have problems, if I had to deal with one return out of 100, it would be more hassle than I want to take on.

Fracker’s claim cows to blame for atmospheric methane gas. The effects cows have on climate change made Big Oil rethink how to get cows to pay those taxes. So much for juicy Ribeye steaks costing <$10 when/if carbon taxes ever hit cows in the utters.
