There was a time when every factory supplied it’s own electricity, heat, and other necessities. They were often powered by slow speed engines burning a wide variety of fuels. At one time gasoline was burned off because there was no market for it, as we investigate the history of these engines, we often note they were multi fuel, and the fuel burned, was the cheapest available at that time. Kerosene, gasoline, and natural gas, to name a few.
Steven Ribeiro has an interest in using bio fuels ,especially waste streams like veggie oils that can be burned with little emissions. The potential for net metering, generating a portion of the building’s requirements in the basement, and all manner of building efficiencies is being studied here.
I will be watching this project. Maybe the past will become the future once again?
